About: I'm an instructional designer at the Hunter College Campus Schools. I support the effective use of technology in schools and classrooms.

I am also keen on the role of games in education. Please find below an ever-changing picture of me. You know, just in case you were curious.

innovate and distance learning

Great resource for educational technology.  This is one of those “high content-low fluff” websites which really gives us some good things to think about - there are articles about pedagogy and learning, and thoughtful reviews about relevant websites.  In fact, it’s triggered some of my thinking about distance learning.

To be honest, as a primary school educator (now in secondary), I’ve been cool to the “distance learning” thing (which innovate seems to focus on). I think distance learning doesn’t lend itself to younger learners.

I am however, an advocate of making learning materials online - handouts, important announcements, things like that.  Our school uses blackboard and I’m very happy with it.

As a support to classroom learning? fantastic? As a primary learning tool? Nyet.

Good stuff.
