I love what I do.

I love technology and education. Maybe you like knitting. Cool. My thing is educational technology.

What’s out there? Why I think the future is in web-based services

Monday, September 06, 2010

Part of my vision for education is shifting to cloud-based applications.

Here are a few examples of cloud-based applications. I’ll find more, but for now, please poke at these. Food for thought and discussion!

Video editing online http://jaycut.com/
Audio editing online http://aviary.com/tools/audio-editor
Image editing online: http://aviary.com/tools/image-editor
Photoshop online: http://www.photoshop.com/tools?wf=editor

A bunch of online, open source resources (think replacing the textbook) http://www.curriki.org/xwiki/bin/view/Main/WebHome

We also add to this the google suite of tools. but just in case,

Word: http://writer.zoho.com/home?serviceurl=%2Findex.do
Excel: http://www.editgrid.com/
Access: http://www.zoho.com/creator/index.html
Powerpoint: http://prezi.com/

And of course hundreds of spectacular sites dedicated to content-specific material (this is just an example, I think you get the basic idea)

http://www.pixton.com/schools/overview
http://bm.nmolp.org/creativespaces/?page=home

I look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Warmly,

Bill

Polish Resume

This is my full resume translated into Polish. My wife tells me it is a literal translation, and as such might convey a slightly different meaning to Polish speakers.
